12 TIPS TO STAY HEALTH THIS HOLIDAY SEASON

Compliments of the season to one and all.

It’s Christmas time again as with every December period and festive
period, everything about you can be thrown out the back door in the
name of making everyone around you happy, making sure everything
is in order at work, taking care of friends and families needs, even
trying to take a Christmas vacation or holiday can be quite stressful.
Of course the list of things that jostle for your attention at this time of
the year can be endless.

Before you start to lose it.

Stop(in the middle of the chaos) yes stop and take a deep breath.

I’m going to share with you some simple tips to stay healthy and get
you through this stressful period.

Yes they are things you already know but, you know life can be so
complicated that we forget the simple things.

  1. Drink lots of water: Right now the Weather is hot. If your Job require you to be indoors the hot weather is definitely not a challenge. Though I’d still say drink a lot of water as this helps keep all your cells functioning optimally. However if your constantly outdoors. You probably will not want to take a lot of water as you don want to run to the bathroom now and then. However if you keep a bottle of water handy, you can sip a little at a time. What you will observe is instead of visiting the restroom, most of the water will be expelled as sweat and you won’t feel exhausted because you are replenishing your body with water.
  2. Take short naps during your downtime’s. Rather than check Facebook or Instagram (though that can be entertaining and it has it’s place, 15 mins of rest will do your body a whole lot of good. How many times do you have downtime’s in the office. If you’ve not taken your leave yet, on Monday just observe how many hours you spend doing things unrelated to work. You’ll be shocked at how much extra time of sleep you can get.
  3. Don’t worry. If you can’t solve it, move on to the next thing. Yes your boss may be angry, yes you may be behind in payments, yes you may be upset but worrying never helped anyone. So stop it. When you start to worry, you can divert to playing a game on your phone.(Yes I know that’s unproductive work but, the idea is to divert your attention)
  4. Boost your immunity- Yes you don't just wake up and raise your immunity in one day. It takes time so make fruits and veggies a part of your life and if you’re too busy this period. Spend a little on yourself and get someone to make them for you.
  5. Most of us are early risers so this should be easy. Take an early morning walk. If you’d rather not do this early in the morning use the edge of your bed to do either sit-ups, press ups or push ups or simply do 20 squats daily. Exercise gets your blood flowing, makes you alert and ready to face the day. Also this is a good time to think through your day.
  6. Take 5 mins to plan your day in the morning and 2 mins to review your plans. Most of our stresses occur because of poor planning. If you can’t do this every morning. Do it at night,If you’re too tired then plan for the next day during your lunch break when you’re alert.
  7. Don’t skip your meals. The meal we usually neglect is breakfast. If you don’t do breakfast like me. You can do brunch or get a portable smoothie maker to make and take your smoothies on the go.(I can help you get a portable smoothie maker that doesn’t need to be connected to electricity to run).
  8. Take some vitamins. Your body is begging for them at this time. They should be a normal part of your day. Yes you hate drugs but take a vitamin.(Did you know there are vitamins you just place a drop in your water and you’re good to go for the day?).
  9. Don’t take work home: This is very difficult to do at this period but, if you want to remain working optimally daily during this period it’s vital you keep this painful but important rule.
  10. Take yourself out once in a while. You need to unwind (Now I didn’t say splurge on ice cream or indulge yourself in food but there’s a middle road and you and I know where it starts and ends).
  11. Delegate: Work will not end. Come 2019 they will be piles of work to do, and someone else will take over if you’re not around.
  12. Do your best daily and love yourself: Don’t sweat over split milk. If it’s doable do it, but the world will still continue ( I hear you say, are you encouraging laziness). Of course I’m not saying be lazy. All I’m saying is do your best and leave the rest.
One extra tip to  keep you hail and hearty this season
No matter how tight it is, give this season, it may not be money, it may be time, it may be support, it may be encouraging words. There’s this refreshing feeling that comes over you, when you have helped another human being.
Make it a habit to take a clove of garlic and ½ of a lime in a cup of water. This helps strengthen your immune system.
Have a blessed and wonderful Christmas this season.
